Sexual Assault Awareness Month
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), a nationwide campaign dedicated to raising awareness about sexual violence. The Title IX Office invites all members of our community to promote awareness, education, and action by participating in the events and activities listed below and by using our SAAM virtual backgrounds to show your support for those impacted by sexual violence.
Schedule of Events
Wednesday, April 1, from 11:30am - 1:30pm at SSB First Floor Lobby: SAAM Prevention and Resource Fair
Help us launch SAAM with food, drinks, and engaging activities. Connect with campus partners offering safety, support, and wellness resources for Longhorns. You can learn about available services, meet students and staff, and explore ways to take action toward ending sexual violence.
Tuesday, April 7, from 10:00am - 12:00pm at Gregory Gym Plaza: Coffee and Consent
Show your support for survivors by wearing teal—the color of sexual violence prevention—and join the Title IX Office for a free cup of coffee and donuts while supplies last. Learn more about consent, healthy communication, and available campus resources.
Wednesday, April 29, from 9:30am - 10:30am at Littlefield Fountain: Denim Day Walk: Building a Caring Campus Community
Wear denim and stand in solidarity with survivors to raise awareness about sexual violence and promote a culture of care and prevention. Light refreshments will be available while supplies last. University employees can register via UTLearn; students can register via the Title IX Office. Tag @utaustintix on Instagram to share your support!
Every Tuesday and Thursday from April 14th to 23rd at Speedway Pedestian Mall: Tabling and Outreach
Join us on the Speedway Pedestrian Mall every Tuesday and Thursday from April 14-23, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., for Teal Tuesdays and Teal Thursdays. Stop by to participate in a variety of prevention activities and learn about the Title IX Office’s services, resources, and educational opportunities available to the campus community.
Throughout the Month of April: Care and Comfort Donation Drive
The Title IX Office is partnering with the UT Outpost for a Care and Comfort donation drive. Donate personal care and hygiene items to support those impacted by sexual violence. A list of accepted items is available on the UT Outpost website. Donation bins are available at the SSB, Union Building (UNB), William C. Powers, Jr. Student Activity Center (WCP), and North End Zone Building (NEZ). Donations may also be made through the UT Outpost Amazon Wishlist or by making a financial gift.
The Title IX Office offers support and resources to all students, faculty, and staff.
The Title IX Office hosts a variety of workshops to engage in discussions about setting healthy boundaries, addressing retaliation, and providing supportive measures to those who have experienced interpersonal violence.
